{"id":1962,"date":"2015-10-07T13:38:10","date_gmt":"2015-10-07T17:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/positivementalimagery.com\/blog\/?p=1962"},"modified":"2015-10-07T13:38:10","modified_gmt":"2015-10-07T17:08:10","slug":"mental-golf-reminders-to-access-your-peak-performances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/positivementalimagery.com\/blog\/mental-golf-reminders-to-access-your-peak-performances\/","title":{"rendered":"Mental golf reminders to access your peak performances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2015 golf tournament season is winding down now with winners being decided in club championships all the way up to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presidentscup.com\/course.html\">President\u2019s Cup<\/a> being played in South Korea this week.\u00a0Whether you are playing in an individual competition or a team event, here are some areas to review for competing successfully in the rest of your season.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Concentration:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mental concentration is at its peak when your mind is clear of all distractions.<\/li>\n<li><em>The ability to concentrate is good, but<\/em> <em>thinking too much about <strong>how<\/strong> you are doing <strong>wha<\/strong>t you are doing can be disastrous.\u201d<\/em> &#8212; Harvey Penick<\/li>\n<li>Be totally prepared mentally and physically to play before you hit your shot.<\/li>\n<li>Before addressing the ball, breathe deeply to slow down your busy mind for easier focus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Tempo:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is no rush. Swing as if you are working by the hour.<\/li>\n<li>Think positively as you approach your next shot. Every shot is a new experience. The next one may be the best shot of your life.<\/li>\n<li>Never make a change based on one bad shot, or even a few missed shots.<\/li>\n<li>Stick to the one thing you can control\u2014you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Emotions:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t get mad at the club; it\u2019s the same one you used to hit that great shot yesterday.<\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cYou just have to take the attitude that you\u2019ve done all the training that is required, and what is the point of that training if you\u2019re not going to <strong>trust <\/strong>it\u201d? &#8212;<\/em> Bob Rotella<\/li>\n<li>You cannot be relaxed and tense at the same time. The easiest path to a relaxed state of mind is through a relaxed body.<\/li>\n<li>Know the difference between being self-centered and centered in self.<\/li>\n<li>Release fears and judgments that keep you bound in faulty thinking.<\/li>\n<li>Remember the confident feelings of playing \u201cin the zone.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cIt\u2019s tough to play bad when you\u2019re happy on the inside.\u201d \u2013 <\/em>Jessica Korda, LPGA<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Positive Mental Thoughts:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is more important to learn to score than it is to learn to swing.<\/li>\n<li>A miss-hit is a golden opportunity to learn what not to do.<\/li>\n<li>Experience is your best teacher.<\/li>\n<li>Always picture in your mind where you want the ball to land safely.<\/li>\n<li>Change \u201cit\u2019s impossible\u201d to \u201canything is possible\u201d \u2013 Just Do It!<\/li>\n<li>A consistent pre-shot routine produces consistent shots.<\/li>\n<li>Expecting to play a round without error is unrealistic.<\/li>\n<li>The game of golf is mind over muscle.<\/li>\n<li>Golf is a waiting game.
